10. The Story

The bright light of the star led the wise men on until they found the place where Mary, Joseph and Jesus were staying.

They came in and bowed down and gave Jesus their gifts:

“I offer gold – a sign that you are a king”
“I offer frankincense – a sign that you will help people to worship God”
“I offer myrrh – a mysterious sign of hard times to come”

Later that night, they were warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, so they returned to their country by another route.

Mary thought about the gifts and wondered what they could mean. Who was this baby lying in her arms?
